The main vacation this year was a four week long road trip, spanning thirteen US states. But first we had a stop in Stavanger, and then another stop in Reykjavik.

The four week long trip is now over, and we’ve seen and experienced a lot! We found a total of 685 caches (28 DNF) on this trip, if we include the start in Stavanger. That is 97 caches more than we had planned to find.
We hosted two events, one in Stavanger before we left and one in Reykjavik on the way to Seattle. We attended several events in and around Seattle, GIFF, the Block Party, Going APE and a meet’n greet in Williams, AZ. We’ve met a lot of nice people!
We drove around 380km (236mi) on Iceland, and found a total of 17 caches. Not bad for such a short visit!
In comparison, we drove about 6453mi (9903km) on this route:
We found a total of 644 caches in 97 counties in 13 US states. 92 of them were virtuals, and 8 of them webcam caches. We found a total of 85 earthcaches, 1 of them in Stavanger and 5 of them on Iceland. We even created an earthcache during this trip.
We’ve taken a whole lot of photos, and have uploaded 931 new photos to geocaching.com (14 from Stavanger, 28 from Iceland, 889 from USA).
We’ve visited 10 National Parks and several National Monuments and other parks. All of them were great, but I will have to say that Yellowstone and Arches were the highlights!
We’ve had mostly good weather, some rain in Seattle and a heavy storm in Kansas, but we can’t complain!

Other interesting places we visited was (in random order) Mt. Rushmore, Carhenge, Cadillac Ranch, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Goblin Valley, Horseshoe Bend, Moki Dugway and GC30 Mingo – the worlds oldest active cache.
