WWFM XIV

We’ve participated in WWFM several times before. And we’ve even contributed with our own event (WWFM IX). So when we had the chance to attend WWFM XIV Konnerud 10. juni 2017, while on that side of the mountains, we just had to!

The short road

We’ve driven the long road over the mountain (400km / 250mi, which is very long on Norwegian roads) many times. And we really don’t have that many caches left to find. And that’s why we drive it faster and faster 😛

The weather was cold and wet, so it was probably a good thing that we hadn’t planned to stop 30 times along the road….

A visit to “Hagen med det rare i”

We started Saturday with a visit to “Hagen med det rare i“, where we got to see the latest addition (still under production).

Early, or?

We thought we had a lot of time, and that we were going to be very early to the event. But visiting family, shopping caching gear and ice cream breaks take time. So we arrived at the parking just in time to meet some people ready to walk towards the event area.

We brought the necessary inflatable animal floats, as requested in the event description. No way we can attend WWFM unprepared! Even though we weren’t as early as we first thought we would be, we still had time to find a quick cache before the event. 😀 But we didn’t have more time than necessary, we made it just in time!

WWFM XIV

Finally, it was time. The whistle was blown, and everyone gathered at GZ. Literally, everyone. The weather, being typical Norwegian, wasn’t very beach friendly. So the only muggles present, were mosquitoes.

We signed the log, lost the raffle, and did a lot of talking. As much talking as you can do in half an hour.

And that was it. For the event at least. But as with all other events, people just can’t leave 😛 So we continued to talk, around the event area. And our first attempt to leave, failed. We just ended up with a second “event” at the parking area. Eventually, we managed to leave, and headed for another ice cream break.

A milestone

One of the goals today, besides the event, was to log the last cache I needed to complete my D/T matrix. I’ve used more than five years on it, which might not be that much for many. But considering that I’ve found over 15 000 caches, I think we can say that I haven’t given that matrix a lot of priority 😛

But now it’s done! We found the cache without any problems, and the matrix is completed! EiFlei, anirt, footie77 and Tessa joining us, was a nice bonus! Geocaching is best when shared!

After finding a couple other caches, it was time to get back to our base, for a (very) late dinner.

The long road home

We spent a lot of time visiting family on Sunday, so we didn’t start on the long road home until late. At least the weather was a lot nicer now. And with almost no traffic, we had a nice trip home. But we didn’t get home until around 2am, Monday…
