Late departure

Compared to most other days on this trip, we had a relatively late start this day. But we still got up early enough to have time for a quick stop to shop some supplies, before finding some caches in Bullhead City.

The fastest way to Vegas

We didn’t have much planned along the road to Vegas, besides the fourfer (four for one) rest area where we found GC77NYD Papa was a Rolling Stone, and a couple caches really close to the highway.

Neon everywhere

We only had two stops planned in Vegas, and the first one was GCHYED Signs of the Times. We also had tickets to see the museum. It was impressive to see the huge neon signs up close, but the most interesting about the visit here, was all the stories behind the signs.

We were lucky enough to have one of the guides tell us a lot of the history behind – both the signs here, and Vegas itself. If you’re ever in the area – stop by this museum!

The only thing we would have done differently, if we could, was to visit the museum after dark. It was crazy hot, actually so hot that one of our phones didn’t want to take pictures anymore – we just got a error message saying it was too hot for the camera to work. The last stop in vegas was the cache right next door, GCW6YB Las Vegas Natural History Museum.

Back on familiar roads

We’ve driven I-15 between Las Vegas and St. George many times before, so we only stopped at a couple caches along the way to Zion. GC3DNV6 Diverse Day Challenge in Arizona, before we time traveled one hour when crossing the border to Utah, and GC7PXZB Hurricane Mesa and CCC–Information Please.

Court of the Patriarchs

After a quick stop at the Zion visitor center, we hopped on the shuttle to go inside the park. It was a bit late when we got there, so we only did GC7TWAW Court of the Patriarchs. We expected a lot of people in Zion, so it was a bit surprising to see how much less crowded the park was, compared to previous visits here.

The scenic route

Zion is a beautiful park, and just driving through on the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway makes it worth visiting the park. Less traffic than we’re used to here as well.

Our own cabin for the night

We decided to try a cabin at Zion Mountain Ranch this time, and we do not regret that! We will not hesitate to book this place again the next time. Right outside the park, very peaceful and quiet, and a very nice cabin.
