The main vacation this year was a four week long road trip, spanning 27 US states (including D.C.), one Canadian Province and Iceland.
A more detailed report for each day of the trip can be found in separate blog posts, which you eventually will find in the list at the bottom of this article.
This year we started our trip in Boston (after a short stop on Iceland). And as before, we started driving right away to get some finds in as many states as possible. The first week had a very specific purpose – take us to all the states we yet hadn’t found any caches in. And since we were going to visit New York state anyway, we just had to do the detour to Niagara Falls. And while there, we walked over to Canada, so we could log a find in our second Canadian province.
After completing the missing states (we now got all the lower 48), we spent a day in D.C., walking a lot. And setting a new personal record for number of virtual caches in one day.
From D.C., we took headed west, towards Utah. After a lot of driving, and some minor detours to find caches with lots of favorite points, we arrived in Moab. We spent some days in Utah, finding lots of caches and working on completing more of the Visit Utah GeoTour.
We continued through Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park, and eventually ended up at the Going APE mega event. This is our fourth Going APE mega, but the first time ever we got to log a APE cache!
The day after the mega, we hosted an event in Poulsbo, also known as “Little Norway”. From there, we continued on the parking lot I-5, towards Oregon. Traffic was crazy, due to the solar eclipse. But we made it to our destination, and got to enjoy a visit to Crater Lake National Park.
From there we made our way back to Denver, with a short detour through Rocky Mountain National Park.

We’ve taken a whole lot of photos, will upload a lot of them together with the logs.
Curious about which caches we found? You can see all of them on our trip report on cachetur.no, which you can find here.
